Alexander de Brye
In 1992, Alexander de Brye stepped into his position at the helm of Hanzell Vineyards. Working with a team of trusted advisors, Alex and Bob Sessions developed a design to slowly grow Hanzell to 46 acres of vineyards and increase production from 3,000 to 5,000 cases each year. New vineyards were planted from 1999 through 2003 and new construction for a barrel aging cave and new winery building were begun. Completed in 2004, the winery is filled with small stainless steel one ton fermenters, a new more gentle press, and for once a year, a slow and gentle bottling line. The design of the original winery is mirrored in the new winery as it retains the commitment to the highest standards of winemaking and the much loved Hanzell traditions.
